    Fruit orchard as income source

    A rural man of Jargylchak village of Issyk-Kul oblast Tynchtykbek Adigineev was engaged in business activity with Kompanion more than seven years ago. Today Tynchtykbek is the owner of the bloomy orchard where he grows various apples, apricots and other fruit trees.

    Kompanion Financial Group completes equity raise with investment from FMO and Triodos Investment Management

    Kompanion Financial Group, one of the largest microfinance institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic both by loan portfolio and number of clients, has concluded an equity raise selling a 35% stake to international investors. The shares were purchased by Netherlands based investors FMO and Triodos Investment Management, with the latter investing through Triodos Fair Share Fund and Triodos Microfinance Fund. Kompanion’s founder Mercy Corps will remain majority shareholder and hold a 65% stake. The funds will be used for growth capital in the lending operations and support Kompanion’s transformation to a licensed banking institution.

    Kompanion employees transferred one-day salary to the Perinatal Centre

    In fall of 2014, Kompanion Financial Group received a request from the Perinatal Centre of Bishkek to acquire a generator. It is the only centre in the city, which accepts pregnant women with premature delivery and provides certain conditions for newborn infants. As the management explained despite of that, the medical facility is classified as the one from the first energy class maternity clinic experiences power disturbances, due to that hardware associated newborn infants are at risk.

    Kompanion Financial Group continues to contribute to the development of communities and finds high international recognition of its activities. In November 2014, Kompanion became the first organization in Central Asia to have the honor of winning the 5th European Microfinance Award.

    KOMPANION FINANCIAL GROUP HELD ITS NINTH ANNUAL APPLE FESTIVAL

    Kompanion Financial Group held its ninth annual Apple Festival, which provided villagers with the opportunity to network and exchange experiences with fellow farmers, orchard-growers and gardeners. This year the event was held on September 13th in Ak-Jar village, Uzgen district, Osh oblast and brought together more than 1000 participants and guests. Since 2006 Kompanion has organized the festival in Kyrgyzstan’s northern regions. This year was the first time that the festival was held in the country’s southern regions, and it proved to be a was a great feast for the locals.

    KOMPANION FINANCIAL GROUP SUPPORTED MEKENDESHTER 2014 FORUM

    Mekendeshter 2014 Forum: “Contribution to the Development of Kyrgyzstan” took place on July 25th and 26th in Bishkek. During the two-day forum, more than 300 representatives of Kyrgyz diasporas, from 25 countries, participated in panel discussions, round tables and strategic planning sessions. The discussions focused on migration issues, small and medium business development, opportunities for strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s competitiveness in the global market, and the role of diasporas in the country's development. The forum was hosted by the “Roza Otunbaeva Initiative” International Public Foundation.
