    THE TRANSITION OF AN ENTREPRENEUR IN BALYKCHY

    In 2005, fourteen years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Taalaikul Usunbakunova used microloans to transform herself from cafe waitress to successful entrepreneur.
    In the town of Balykchy, on the northwestern shore of Lake Issyk Kul, Taalaikul operates a small business salting and smoking fish caught in the lake and selling them in the town’s outdoor markets.

    ANNUAL APPLE FESTIVAL GAINS AN INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE

    Kyrgyzstan’s 8th Annual Apple Festival, held on September 21st, 2013, in Kara-Oi village of Issyk-Kul Oblast brought together over one thousand participants and guests. This year’s  Apple Festival, organized by Kompanion Financial Group Microfinance CJSC and Mercy Corps Kyrgyzstan, and in cooperation with local administration, gained an international edge as participants greeted foreign participants from the Association of Gardeners, Scientists and Agronomists from France and Switzerland.

    KOMPANION FINANCIAL GROUP DISBURSED FUNDS TO THE FIRST CLIENT TO USE MONEY TRANSFER SERVICE

    On Friday, August 23, 2013, the Chui Branch of Kompanion, located in Bishkek, successfully launched its first money transfer by disbursing funds to its first client.
    The first client to enjoy the service, Amanbek Kanybekov, came to Alamedin sub-office of Kompanion Chui Branch to cash money sent by his relative living abroad. After filling out all the necessary forms, Amanbek received the remittance, as well as official congratulations and gifts from company management.
